“A picture is worth a thousand words!†Postings on the RAMS-Pro Forum can include captured screen shots, a copy of a screen region which is displayed (embedded) in the message body text. This is helpful to us in diagnosing problems. To capture a screen shot - In RAMS-Pro go to the screen and entry you wish to capture.
- Press the Print Screen key on your keyboard. This copies the entire screen to the computers clipboard.
- Start the Paint program. This is usually located in Start >> Programs >> Accessories.
- Select Edit >> Paste or press the [Ctrl+V] keys to paste the screen shot to the new Paint screen.
- You can clip the essential portion of the graphic buy clicking the selection tool
, outlining the area of the screen graphic you wish to clip and selecting Edit >> Copy or [Ctrl+C] key. - Select File >> New and select [No] on the Save Dialog.
- Again select Edit >> Paste or press the [Ctrl+V] keys to paste the clipped screen shot to the new Paint screen.
- You may outline, highlight or annotate the graphic.
- Select File >> Save and in the Save Dialog select .JPG as the Save as Type. Enter a descriptive name and save the document. You now have a graphics document that can be uploaded to the web, or included in any document for that matter. For uploading to the forum, the graphics file size cannot exceed 200K and should be under 50K if you have done these steps correctly.
Embedding the screen shot in your Forum Posting - Create a new Post in the desired forum.
- Put the Title and a minimum amount of text in the message body so that it will save.
- On the bottom of the message editor, select Click here to upload!
- Locate the graphic file you saved and select [OK] button to upload.
- Select the Embed picture in post checkbox.
- At the bottom of the message screen select [OK] to save the post.
- Select
and add the text around the two image commands that have been added to the message. Do not change the text between the [image] and [/image] commands. - You may view the message now by selecting [Preview] at the bottom of the message editor.
