The centre of Visual Ramspro support in Australia is Newcastle, a regional city about 100 miles north of Sydney. This time every year we receive some very welcome visitors. These guys are humpback whales and every May / June they pass by heading north to sheltered waters near Fraser Island. They will spend the next few months in the warmer water, give birth and then in September / October they will head back to the Antartica. Why they would want to leave the warm waters near the Great Barrier Reef and return to Antartica is a mystery known only to whales. For the most part you only see their hulking mass below the water and the "plume" of spray as they breathe. Some though are so happy to be in Newcastle they cant help to express themselves like the guy in the attched photo To see them makes you glad to be alive......... Bruce RAMS Australia
